A 15-year-old footballer from German club JFC Berlin passed away tragically after colliding with a rival player following a youth team match.
In an invitational tournament in Frankfurt, Germany, the Berlin-based club faced a performance program team representing the French club FC Metz.
According to NW News, an altercation between players occurred following the game on Sunday, with the victim suffering head and neck injuries and collapsing with a brain injury.
According to a police report, “after a fight on Sunday… a 15-year-old boy died in hospital of serious brain injuries.”
An autopsy will be performed in the coming days to determine the circumstances surrounding (the young German’s death).”
Local authorities are currently holding the alleged perpetrator in order to determine the sequence of events surrounding the tragedy.
The game took place as part of a 16-team invitational tournament in Germany.

Metz issued the following statement on Wednesday: “FC Metz has learned of the incident that occurred in Frankfurt during a friendly private U17-U19 football tournament in which two FC Metz Performance Programme teams were participating.”
“At the conclusion of a game played in good spirits, an inexplicable altercation occurred, and a young German player was hospitalized in serious condition, with his condition being known today.”
“The German justice in charge of the case is now investigating the incident in order to shed light on these tragic facts.”
“A young player from the FC Metz Performance Program is currently being held by German authorities and denies intentionally damaging the physical integrity of the injured young player.”
“The FC Metz Performance Program, as well as all of the players and parents present, are obviously at the disposal of the German authorities to help advance the investigation.”
“The entire FC Metz organization is deeply shaken by this tragedy and extends its heartfelt condolences to the young player, his family, and his loved ones.”
Bernd Schultz, president of the Berlin Football Association, said of the incident, “Our thoughts and sympathies go out to all the relatives and team members of the player concerned in these difficult hours.”
According to AFP, the victim was artificially kept alive in accordance with his family’s wishes to preserve and donate his organs.
