A search and rescue operation has been launched by police in northwest Nigeria.
To find two female students who have been abducted from a university hostel in Zamfara state.
According to them, an armed group broke into the private hostel in Gusau and imprisoned two guards before kidnapping the students.

The incident has heightened concerns about insecurity in Zamfara, which has seen numerous kidnappings for ransom in the past.
Gunmen kidnapped nearly 300 female pupils from a boarding school in Zamfara in February of last year.
After several days in captivity, they were freed. In August, fifteen pupils and four faculty members were arrested at an agricultural college.
