The Best FIFA Football Awards annually honor the most outstanding members of the world’s most popular sport.
In addition to being a celebration in which football supporters are acknowledged and take an important and active role, they also serve as a symbol of the highest honor for coaches and players in the game.
Messi won the Best FIFA award for the best player in the world against his PSG teammate, Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema to win the award for the second time after leading Argentina to a World Cup victory in an incredible final against France last year in Qatar.
At the World Cup final, in which Argentina defeated France on penalties after a 3-3 tie after extra time, the 35-year-old forward scored twice.
Lionel Messi was named player of the tournament at the World Cup, becoming the first player to do so twice after winning the award in Brazil in 2014.
Sarina Wiegman and Mary Earps of England won the women’s coach and goalkeeper awards at the 2022 Best FIFA Awards presentation on Monday in Paris.
The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2022, Lionel Messi, said, “This year was crazy for me.
I was able to achieve my dream after so much fighting, so much searching, so much insisting. It’s the most beautiful thing that has happened to me in my career”.
